KATALYST is an end to end solution to remove technical barriers between countries’ collaboration efforts in ending violence against children. Created with open source platforms, bespoke tools, purpose-built hardware and expert forensic experience; KATALYST is a framework which will mature with the contributions from Law Enforcement, Non–Governmental Organisations and private industry.
The KATALYST server enables validated hash sets for known CSAM to be integrated into the framework. Hosted by Project VIC, the international investigation community can share mature hash sets based on reliable and robust categorisation schemas. KATALYST, created with the learnings acquired through 50 years of operational investigations, enables a truly global platform. KATALYST removes the limitations created by technical barriers that have previously constrained countries working together efficiently to protect children.
KATALYST utilizes a comprehensive network of subject matter experts to deliver remote and in-person training. KATALYST training fosters the development of technical and victim focused investigative skills and knowledge, feeding growth of the maturing framework. KATALYST integrates a case management capability into investigation workflows, enabling investigators to develop and apply their specialist skills to combat crimes against children.
The KATALYST forensic process takes advantage of leading open source platforms such as Autopsy. Used by CSAM Investigators, KATALYST is the central communications point. It enables integration of computer forensics with the case management platform, a media management system and fit for purpose tools. KATALYST delivers an efficient end-to-end framework for the investigator.
The KATALYST media library has been developed to enhance Victim Identification capability. A centralized location for media management and classification, the library makes use of robust classification models and centralized hash cloud capabilities. This enables the KATALYST media library user to create and redistribute their hash set, supporting ongoing collaboration
